如果我们从未寻找你，我们现在就寻找；

你的眼睛点燃了穿透黑夜的明光，那是我们唯一的星辰；

我们必要看见荆棘冠在你额头刺出的伤痕，

我们必须得到你，哦！带着疤痕的耶稣。

If we have never sought, we seek Thee now;

Thine eyes burn through the dark, our only stars;

We must have sight of thorn-pricks on Thy brow,

We must have Thee, O Jesus of the Scars.

诸天令我们惊恐不安，它们太宁静了，

环顾四宇宙，我们竟无一处安身。

我们的伤痕伤害着我们，何处有止痛的香膏？

主耶稣，借着你的疤痕，我们索取你的恩典。

The heavens frighten us; they are too calm;

In all the universe we have no place.

Our wounds are hurting us; where is the balm?

Lord Jesus, by Thy Scars, we claim Thy grace.

当门关上了，如果你近前亲近我们，

只求展示你的双手，和肋旁；

If, when the doors are shut, Thou drawest near,

其他的神明都很强壮，但你是软弱的；

这是英国诗人施礼透 （ Edward  Shillito）写的名诗，汤朴威廉 大主教曾在《默想基督》一书中盛赞此诗，潘秋松在其翻译的《约翰福音注释》一书中也翻译了这首诗歌，我借鉴了潘的翻译，仔细翻译了这首诗，但仍觉得味道不足，恳请各位修译。
